All human beings are believers by nature. All that we do is based on
what we have chosen to believe.
We are beings of belief.
Thus, you can believe in God or not believe in God. You get to choose.
When I chose to believe in God, of course, I selfishly chose. We are
fallen creatures and you simply believing does not make you righteous.
No matter how altruistic I was at the time, I took the offer of the
Lord, selfishly, thinking of my own need. The manner of the grace and
love of God to take selfish beings and gather them to Himself is
amazing! He did it knowing that they seek their own selfish wants,
first and foremost, and not Him.
Do you know what that does in the heart for those who are struck by
that? It moves them to love Him freely. You emerge from your belief
into a world beyond belief, one of love.
All His doing, of course, nothing of ourselves.
