The Holy Spirit is given to men through the Lord Jesus Christ. The

studying it? Why not?

The Bible's awesome, I like studying it. But
I'm an unbeliever and so don't have Mike's
perspective, but I used to be a christer like
him and so can follow his logic, and he
makes some good arguments.

Sola Scriptura makes you disrespect the
Bible and lie about it so that you can make
yourself believe it matches your church's
doctrine. Matthew 16:18 is a case in point.

Jesus Is the rock, not the pebble as Peter was. Christ gave his ekklesia the
keys of the kingdom of heaven so that it will not fade away as Peter did when
he died.

The ekklesia is not religion, it is the Body of Christ. It is the kingdom of
God.

said "today" was just to make it clear when
he was making the promise. He didn't want
the thief thinking he said it yesterday or was
gonna say it tomorrow.

As ludicrous as that is, they make the claim
so that the verse doesn't contradict their

Peter means as well, except in this case it needs to be taken fully in
context with what Jesus said. Especially in light of the preceding verse

He honored Simon with the name, you may not realize this but Peter speaks of
the believers in a similar manner.

“Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy
priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus
Christ.” (1Pe 2:5)
I highly recommend that chapter which speaks to the subject we are
discussing. Notice here that Peter included the believer to be of the same
state as he, "Ye also,"

Peter also describes the believer in Jesus Christ to be a co-equal partner
with him in the Lord.

“Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have
obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our
Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the
knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,” (2Pe 1:1-2)

This shows the honor that Peter felt in being a "stone" and similar to a
"Chip off the block" Of Jesus the Massive Rock upon which the eklessia is
built. Read the chapter two and you may see what I am speaking of.

Jesus did not change the subject but spoke of Simon with his name for him, as
if he were then a part of Him, as his part in the 12 disciples of the Lord.

In Heaven the believers will be given a stone, with their name on it. IIRC a
small white stone. So the connotation is one of honor.

If you were to read that verse in Greek you would know why the proper
translations is like the one above.

This translation of yours is erroneous.

The word in the original Greek is 'Hades' and not 'unseen world.' Also
the word, 'Church' is not there in the original text. Rather it is the
word, 'ekklesia' which definitely does NOT mean, 'Church.' The word
'Church' means a sun circle and is the common term for the Egyptian and
Babylonian temple cults that merged with Mithraism in Rome. The Church
is the cult of Mithras, Dagon, Isis, Horus, and Set. The 'ekklesia' that
Jesus referred to had nothing to do with a Church. Ekklesia is a
legislature within the government. Only a certain very few are called
and chosen to serve in Christ's legislature--certainly not every Tom,
Dick, and Harebrain that claims to feel 'called to the ministry.'

Your screeds are dripping with eisegesis. You should not pretend to know
Koine Greek.
