Understanding of the scripture.

Understanding the scriptures cannot come by reading or studying them,
but by the hearing of them from God.

Thus, a man can quote and study scripture all his life and think he
knows what they mean, but he knows nothing.

Think of Nicodemus.

John 3:10  Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of
Israel, and knowest not these things?

And so it is with all this Christendom religiosity, tossing about,
waving its arms, and flitting around on a stage.  So what do we end up
with?

We end up with religious people quoting scripture again and again,
pushing out what they say and think the scripture means, but without God.

So what am I saying?  This: "A phylactery does not a heart for God make.
Not back then, and not today."

Phylactery off, please.

Haven't you got a phylactery to quote? :-).

Thank you.

But then they need to follow it. This they don't do;
first example, is Jesus' statement to "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES".

But have the churches obeyed that? No. Most have participated in this
world's wars. The churches have KILLED their enemies in strict
defiance of Jesus' orders. but they will reap what they sow.

True, writing Bible things down does not always give a person the true

Good Evening,

I actually stated the question wrong. Of course ALL Scripture is
backed up by God. (2 Tim 3:16)

But how do you determine which MEANING of Scripture is backed up by
God?

I found God a long time ago. And I believe I found the religion that
God backs up. They have Bible truths that most the churches don't want
to acknowledge. For example:

--no hellfire. (a Satanic idea) (the Bible "hell" [Heb sheol; Gr
hades] is the grave
--no immortal soul. (came from Plato) (a Bible "soul" can die. Eze
18:4)
--no Purgatory. (a Catholic invention)
--no Trinity. Jehovah is "one". (Deut 6:4)
--death erases all sin. (Ro 6:23)
--not all good people go to heaven.
--the dead are not conscience. (Ec 9:5,10; Ps 146:3,4)
--no one went to Heaven up until Jesus came along.
--hell empties out its dead. (Rev 20:13)
--paid preachers. Jesus said "you received free, give free." (Mt 10:8)
etc, etc

All of those things are right in the Bible for all to see.

You're a sinner, James; that is whoredom, and you are going to discern
the scripture perfectly, are you?

Go...and...find...the...Lord...in...your...daily...life, and then you
won't need your corrupted view of scripture.

Joh 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal
life: and they are they which testify of me.
Joh 5:40  And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Crystal clear.

No, you can't be God and lean on your own understanding, of scripture,
or anything else.

So what do we end up
with?
We end up with religious people quoting scripture again and again.
That is good to quote scripture to those who rarely read the Bible.
But then they need to follow it. This they don't do;
first example, is Jesus' statement to "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES".
But have the churches obeyed that? No. Most have participated in this
world's wars. The churches have KILLED their enemies in strict
defiance of Jesus' orders. but they will reap what they sow.
Sincerely James

We end up with religious people quoting scripture again and again,
pushing out what they say and think the scripture means, but without God.
So what am I saying? This: "A phylactery does not a heart for God make.
Not back then, and not today."
"phylactery " Not exactly a commonly used word. For me and other
readers it means: "a small leather box containing Hebrew texts on
vellum, worn by Jewish men at morning prayer as a reminder to keep the
law."
True, writing Bible things down does not always give a person the true
meaning of Bible Scriptures.
How do YOU determine what Scriptures have been backed up by God, and
those not?
Put your personal "phylactery" (summation) about Him down, and go and
find God in your daily life.
Good Evening,

That is certainly what all humans should be doing:

(Ecclesiastes 12:13) The conclusion of the matter, everything having
been heard, is: Fear the true God and keep his commandments, for this
is the whole obligation of man.

Go to the Lord.

You people never ever learn. You are perfect in your sin.

Joh 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal
life: and they are they which testify of me.
Joh 5:40  And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

I hope in your sinful perceptions those bible verses meet your approval
in your version of them.

Put your personal sinner bible down and go and find the Lord in your
daily life, and do what He says.

So what do we end up
with?
We end up with religious people quoting scripture again and again.
That is good to quote scripture to those who rarely read the Bible.
But then they need to follow it. This they don't do;
first example, is Jesus' statement to "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES".
But have the churches obeyed that? No. Most have participated in this
world's wars. The churches have KILLED their enemies in strict
defiance of Jesus' orders. but they will reap what they sow.

Good Evening,

how can "death" and "hell" (hades) be tossed into it?
Bad stuff goes, only the eternal life and peace of God remains.
That is all you need to know.
Yet we are shown by the apostle Paul to REASON on the Scriptures:

Hmm, reminds me of info posted to friend james in another ng recently. A

when he firsst joined that top leadership level.

He said they showed little evidence of individually knowing scripture nor

There is a glaring failure of that logic. Does the "new law of love" make
a righteous self defence of others impossible? Does it say not to pray for
enemy soldiers?

Consider the parable of the good samaritan. Christ strongly condemned the
religious leaders for not giving one of their own religion aid when
attacked. He praised the samaritan who was the object of bigotry from
those leaders but came to the aid of one of that religion anyway. Who did
Christ say had the blessing of God?

Consider the 2nd world war, jermany and japan were attacking and destroying
entire populations in the most grievous ways. How is the jw vatican misuse
of the "law of love" an example of what the despised samaritan did as an
enemy in the eyes of the religious leaders?

Indeed, one can rightly think that some mothers of soldiers in the 2nd war
no doubt prayed for the enemy soldiers also as Christ taught, no?

Consider this prayer on the web:

* Father of all mercies and God of all comfort, look in pity on all who are
suffering during this time of strife and warfare. Protect the
defenseless, heal the wounded, and sustain the homeless and hungry.
Turn the hearts of our enemies, and forgive both them and us for our share
in
the sin that has brought this anguish on humanity. Open to us a way
of reconciliation, and lead us to the path of peace; through Jesus Christ,
our
Lord. Amen.

Friend james my jw vatican groupie thought about what he had rotely
Good Morning again,

Yes, at times we seek out those who are spiritually more knowledgable
to help us with the Scriptures. And that is what the Bible suggests we
do, unless you are going against the Bible here:

"(Acts 8:27-31) With that he got up and went, and look! an
E·thi·o´pi·an eunuch, a man who had authority under Can·da´ce, queen
of the E·thi·o´pi·ans, and who was in charge of all her treasure. He
had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and he was returning and was
sitting in his chariot, reading aloud the prophet Isaiah. 29 So the
spirit said to Philip: “Go over and approach this chariot.” 30 Philip
ran alongside and heard him reading aloud Isaiah the prophet, and he
said: “Do you actually know what you are reading?” 31 He said:
“Really, how could I ever do so unless someone guided me?” So he urged
Philip to get on and sit down with him."

Sorry, but you are biased against JW's. You will have to prove such
statements.

As for knowing Scripture and Greek and Hebrew words, Their Bible (NWT)
has been praised by Bible scholars such as Dr. Benjamin Kedar, a
Hebrew scholar in Israel. He said:

“This work reflects an honest endeavor to achieve an understanding of
the text that is as accurate as possible. . . . I have never
discovered in the New World Translation any biased intent to read
something into the text that it does not contain.”" (from wol.jw.org)

The US was not 'self defending' its land by going to Vietnam. Many
churches supported the US military, even among its own members. "Love

replaced it.

Bad stuff goes, only the eternal life and peace of God remains.
That is all you need to know.
Wrong. You are taking the scripture out of context and applying it to
yourself. We are not shown to REASON on the Scripture. What the
scripture says is that PAUL, "reasoned with them from the scriptures."
There is nothing in this passage commissioning you personally with any
authority to reason from the scriptures.

Again the passage you quoted says that Paul reasoned with them on the
scripture. It does not say, "The Watchtower Society shall reason on the
scriptures." It does not say, "James shall reason on the scriptures." It
says that Paul, an Apostle, a man who knows God, had a custom of
reasoning with people on the scripture.

Just because Paul did this it does not automatically follow that you can
do it. Yet you are claiming Paul's calling as your own. Paul is now a
King in Heaven, with the other Apostles all as Kings. Jesus is the King
of Kings and they are his brother kings. This calling was not granted to
you. You are standing in the temple of God declaring yourself a King,
fit to instruct men in their belief and behavior. I would not want to be
in your shoes.

Paul is an Apostle of Jesus, and met Jesus personally, and had visions
and visitations from Heaven to teach him what the scriptures mean. Paul
studied the scripture in the original languages with much better
manuscripts. And Paul wrote many of the scriptures we have today. Paul
lived in that culture and time and place. Thus Paul had authority, as an
Apostle, to reason with people on the scriptures. You do not have this
authority and it shows. Your abominable butchering of the Greek language
to uphold your doctrine on 'xylon' and 'stauros' is stark evidence that
you are groping blindly.

You are claiming Paul's calling for yourself. You make a repeated
mockery of scripture with your reasonings on them. You would do well to
put down the bible and go find the One to whom the Bible testifies.

So true.
It is truly amazing just how deceived these people are, seeking to grasp
the kingdom and grant a ticker tape parade for themselves in their sin
while excluding the prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, and tax
collectors in their sin from the kingdom!
I laughed so hard at this I was coughing and choking and my eyes started
watering! A self-congratulatory 'ticker tape parade' image comes into my
mind and what I see in the mind's eye is so uproarious I shall not deign
to describe it. These guys are a meme parade.

Oh, how very little things change!  2000 years and nothing new.
It is like I have said before. After the judgment seat of Christ, all
who were found fearful and unbelieving were already cast into the lake
of fire and brimstone with the beast (Roman world order) and the false
prophet (Church) for an age of ages of testing. And now here we are. And
it is written that the devil would deceive the whole world--not just
some people--but all of us. And here we are, witnessing those still
mired in the lies of the past.

For 2000 years we have been baffled with bullshit believing that the
Church had something to do with Jesus. Actually the Church was Rome's
response to try undoing the work of Jesus. Since they could not
exterminate every single believer and burn every single text, they went
on a mission to corrupt our understanding of it all.

Then along came the digital equivalent of Gutenberg's press, and they
are trying to drown out the signal with noise.

The more I read what this man, James, and others, write, the more
deluded I see they are!  It actually beggars belief!
It is maddening and grotesque how proud these dolts are. These poor
souls pontificate at those who know the Father and have run to meet him.
These self-appointed super saviors talk down to true believers as if we
need their superior rationale drilled into our heads.

narrow path through a cattle chute.

We could compare notes out of band. Doing so openly will just generate a
parade of troll barbs. When I first saw your plus-sized signature about

the time to read some of your words.

Then the Lord told me about your heart, and he told me to pay attention

posts have edified me beyond measure over the past year.

I recall my earliest posts here being about the blasphemy against the
holy spirit. The accuser has dusted that off and tried to use it as an
accusation, not realizing he is confirming it. Religion really is deadly
poison. It is surreal to me at the moment. I kept hoping the guy is just
a troll and doesn't really believe what he is saying to me.

The hardening of the accuser's heart was immediately obvious to you. We
are in witness of the confirmation of Revelation 2:9 and Revelation 3:9,
and of its effects in the world after.

We got front row seats to the movie, Oz.

The world is a wilderness, for sure, and I am assuming I can say the

Goodness gracious! The Lord is still washing feet!  Wonderful Lord!

until I actually took
the time to read some of your words.
I think it is probably about time. My email is what it is above
***@outlook.com. I checked your site and didn't see one.

What have we got to lose? :-).

I understand why you would say "kooky", because some of the things I say
are 'out there', particularly when I do my "homosexual tropes" (quite
deliberately, I might add) and my so-called non-Sunday sinner speech.

However, we are all "kooky" in an eternal way. My wife and I were
talking last night about such a topic and she said in passing, "Everyone
is not the same." I heard it and didn't pay too much attention to it but
it registered on the radar.

This morning, courtesy of your comment, I focused in on it. You might
have heard me speaking about everything is infinitely diverse,
infinitely unique, infinitely complex some time ago? Well, of course,
that is true, but none so truer than we as human beings as God's image
bearers.

No one is the same.

So what happens when two people meet? There is a difference, a perpetual
difference, and that is a beautiful, beautiful thing. However, it also
causes hell (for want of a better term), as you know. How is that
bridged? You already know.

That makes me think about what is happening in "hell." In spiritual
"hell," everyone wants everyone else to be like them, made in their
image. So there is this relentless thrust to "make it so" (Star Trek:
The Next Generation). :-).

Well, it ain't so, and it will never be so, because God is in control
and perfection is found in difference, not in being the same.

and learn from you and your interaction with your usual 'friends.' Your
posts have edified me beyond measure over the past year.
That is good to hear.

What I share is the edification I have received. As I have said, that is
why I am here: because the Lord has edified me about Himself beyond
measure in these newsgroups. To one Robert's horror (and others), the
Lord accomplished a great deal through Robert's wilfulness, rebellion,
stubbornness, pigheadedness, self-righteousness, bent humanistic
man-centred religion, malignancy, snaky bastardy, malice, and, yes,
wankerage, to name a few.  :-).

Thanks, Robbo! :-).

It is his modus operandi, to try and find anything to hang his

Religion really is deadly
poison.
Who would have thought that? The very thing designed to bring hope to
the world brings hell!

Mat 23:15  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye
compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make
him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

However, as you know, God can and does use everything to bring about His
good purpose.

a troll and doesn't really believe what he is saying to me.
He's deluded because the Lord has allowed it. Eventually after a person
pushes too hard and for too long to have their way, they get it.

The hardening of the accuser's heart was immediately obvious to you. We
are in witness of the confirmation of Revelation 2:9 and Revelation 3:9,

Rev 3:9  Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say
they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come
and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

That is so beautiful that the Lord would declare before all that "I have
loved thee." Makes me think of those moments when you see the
prospective bridegroom get down on his knees and "declares to the world"
his love for his hoped for bride. :-).

Son 7:10  I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me.

I just realised, that verse goes both ways. I think of a number of
things about the Lord's character but I have to stop writing or this
post will never end.

My wife says you sound like me.  I don't want to put you under pressure

It's funny that your wife says that we sound alike. I was born in
Appalachia. When a teenager we moved to the Rockies over 2000 miles
away. The other teenagers there all thought I was from Australia or some
other country because of my accent. When I told them where I grew up
they were confused. I was born and raised by a hillbilly and a
hilljilly. Where you live I believe their equivalent are called, "bogans."

I think we both have the same basic message that God saves, and man is
just a spectator at this point. I just kick back and watch him work and
don't try do his job for him. I'm not here on the Internet to save
souls. Who on Usenet thinks they even need to repent? We have the
atheist crew. They're just here to troll because they don't believe in
or stand for anything. We have the pharisees who are suffering impotent
manlet rage because they can't kill us at the stake. Those who would
listen, already have listened and don't need me to preach at them.
What's left is the record of events, of how these interactions play out
and reveal the characters in action.

Saving souls is not my job or calling. My calling is to contend against
the most vicious slanders that religious and political pawns make
against the character of God, to create a record for the use of those
who come after. Maybe they will turn some people to Christ. Maybe one of
them will be another Paul or Martin Luther whose heart of inquiry is
sparked by some of the things left in the record. I don't know the
outcome. I just know the direction. I know where the momentum of history
is taking mankind. I know that every great revolution in thinking in
human history had a thousand quiet, unknown workers laying seed beds for
those who would eventually show up to harvest. We just have to do our
thing as the spirit leads and not worry about the results of everything.
"A meme parade"...hahahahaha...
I am curious, I must admit, about how far does our similarity go?  There

I was horribly religious before I had my meeting with the Lord. He
knocked the religion right out of me. Now I hate religion with a perfect
hatred because it all speaks against the character of God. I respect the
Father and when people say really nasty stuff about his character, I object.

I'm no longer afraid to call out false teachers. I even do it in public
in their faces on the rare occasion one is within earshot bloviating.
Once I read the riot act to some jerk in McDonald's who was walking
around bloviating about the apocalypse. A buddy with me at the time
thought it was comical how I shut the nut dude down.

Notice with our Pharisee friends a "false teacher" is anyone who
disagrees with them about anything, especially with their notions of
compulsory behavior.

As long as we keep heading toward the end we'll be fine. We could
compare notes sometime, but not on Usenet where the imps can shit all
over it.

world--not just some people--but all of us. And here we are,
witnessing those still mired in the lies of the past.
For 2000 years we have been baffled with bullshit believing that the
Church had something to do with Jesus. Actually the Church was Rome's
response to try undoing the work of Jesus. Since they could not
exterminate every single believer and burn every single text, they
went on a mission to corrupt our understanding of it all.
Then along came the digital equivalent of Gutenberg's press, and they
are trying to drown out the signal with noise.

The more I read what this man, James, and others, write, the more
deluded I see they are!  It actually beggars belief!
It is maddening and grotesque how proud these dolts are. These poor
souls pontificate at those who know the Father and have run to meet
him. These self-appointed super saviors talk down to true believers
as if we need their superior rationale drilled into our heads.
So true!  By far, you surpass anyone I have read on the newsgroups in
the years I have been reading posts.
My wife says you sound like me.  I don't want to put you under
pressure but your command of English is far superior to mine; that is
obvious.
There are a couple of things you have written that I am either behind
you on the road or ahead of you on the road.  Not that it matters, but
I can't help wondering as I have never met anyone in 35 years on the
same place in the road.  On the same narrow road is good enough,
though!  :-).
We could
compare notes sometime, but not on Usenet where the imps can shit all
over it.
And no doubt they will.

Thanks for that.

I was horribly religious too. Then the Lord told me to put my Bible
down and shut my big ignorant mouth and listen. I loved it...not, but
then the real game began.

No more bullshit head knowledge was going to cut it. I'll tell you
this. It is a bit wild, and a bit risky to say because it conflicts
with "normal thinking", but what the hell.

A long time ago my friend and I - he went back to Egypt in the end - and
I were in a cheap clothing store and he stuffed down his pants a pair of
shorts. I said to him, "What the hell are you doing?" He said, the
Lord told him to do it. What???!!! How can that be God???!!! Nothing
was going to deter him.

I marveled. Laying it on the line. To make matters worse, I looked
toward the exit and a security man was standing there blocking our way.

I was beside myself, sweating profusely, and my friend left the store
marching calmly past the store security. I learnt something very
important that day, how far would I go to do God's will? That was to be
sorely tested by the Lord in the coming months.

I gained a fresh understanding of what Abraham did in the process.
Imagine watching Abraham from behind a rock. One would be thinking, how
the hell could that be of God???

His ways are not our self-righteous all-knowing ways. :-).

Put your personal sinner bible down and go and find the Lord in your
daily life, and do what He says.
They would rather do what the bible says after consulting their own
imagination to interpret what it means. And how convenient it is, say
they, that the bible means exactly what we say! They conjure Jesus like
a genie who always grants their wish!

Modern religion is just one endless orgy of confirmation bias and
Dunning Kreuger syndrome. The bible is wielded as a cudgel rather than a
witness.

Try to get that through to Robert; that's his full-time work. He just
can't seem to get past his own perfection of the scriptures!  :-).

I used to work at this hospital in northern Australia. I once asked this
doctor if he was satisfied with his career choice. He said, "No."  I
said, "Why don't you try something else then?" He said, "I've come too
far to turn back now."  Amazing! He wasn't that old either.

The older you get, the harder it is; the weed has become a bush has
become a tree, and a tree is very difficult to pull up by the roots.

Unfortunately, many people, including and especially religious people,
experience this.

So what do we end up
with?
We end up with religious people quoting scripture again and again.
That is good to quote scripture to those who rarely read the Bible.
But then they need to follow it. This they don't do;
first example, is Jesus' statement to "LOVE YOUR ENEMIES".
But have the churches obeyed that? No. Most have participated in this
world's wars. The churches have KILLED their enemies in strict
defiance of Jesus' orders. but they will reap what they sow.

Notice:

(Ecclesiastes 12:13) The conclusion of the matter, everything having
been heard, is: Fear the true God and keep his commandments, for this
is the whole obligation of man.

Do you know the meaning of the word love as used there?
The word used there is defined this way.

Thayer Definition:

1) of persons

1a) to welcome, to entertain, to be fond of, to love dearly

2) of things

2a) to be well pleased, to be contented at or with a thing
