Genesis - Chapter Four.

A disclaimer: with all of these chapters, it is impossible to mine their
depths. They are God in description; there are not enough books in the
world for that. So, I just pass on the moment.

"I merely speak the truth, what is revealed to me, and the cards fall
where God intends."

And so...

Gen 4:1  And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain,
and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

She pointed out that the child is a gift from our good-hearted Creator.
Eve understood that the child did not come from them.

And what about from an impersonal "environmental nature" or from an
impersonal "evolution"?  You can't get a personal being from an
impersonal "thing!" Atheists conveniently ignore that fact and choose to
be blind. "What you sow is what you reap."

So Adam and Eve were gifted with a couple of sons, both with different
propensities as we are about to see; reminds me of Jacob and Esau. Both,
however, acknowledged God, which is significant in terms of a man's free
will and personal decision of priority.

Abel's offering to God was accepted; Cain's was disrespectful.

Notice God's advice to Cain.

Gen 4:7  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou
doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his
desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

We have a "well-doing prioritized" God; a reflection of His nature.
Also, we have a choice of masters, don't we.

However, Cain has chosen the delusion that he is of greater value than
His Creator...even in the presence of a GOD [God], no less!!!  The clay
in saying I am greater than the potter.  It is easy for the fallen man
(clay) to rise up and become inflated with self because the clay is the
focus of the potter (God). Hence, a sinful man easily persuades himself
that he is the most important.

What he is missing out on, though, is the incredible, infinite love of
God, and he is replacing it with the love of self.

Anyway, Cain has not shown true respect for God and His worthiness.

It is all going down hill now; Cain slew Abel.  It doesn't appear
exactly why, but I suppose it can be assumed that it was envy.  However,
it does say, curiously, that "Cain talked with Abel his brother."  I
wonder what that conversation would have been.

Moving on.

God knows, of course, of both the conversation and the death of Abel.

But God still asks Cain, "Where's your brother?" giving him the
opportunity to speak the truth.

Truth is all essential to God because our God is a God of truth and
light, and that ain't no lie.

Now, look at the stinking attitude of Cain.  In the blink of an eye, he
went from making an offering to God to spitting in His face!

God says, "Where's your bro?"

Cain says, "I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?"

Insult upon injury.  Just look at the disrespect!

Cain has now laid down the deeds of a liar and a malicious contextual
twister, a maker of lies using truth – mendacious and nefarious.

Who "keeps" us all?

Extremely wicked, what Cain did!

It is like two boys playing in the back yard, and one puts an axe
through the other's head, and then runs inside. The father asks,
where's your brother, and the child says, I don't know, you're the one
who provides a hedge of protection around him; he is your responsibility.

Extremely wicked.

I am not going on any further with Genesis 4 at this point (it is just
too much information); the rest is for the person I am going through the
Bible for and with.

However, I will say this: Above, you have the epitome of how sinful man
treats God (the contempt) and how he goes about to and fro on the earth
to this very day.

Also, notice this: Cain did make an offering, but it was not from the
heart.  God is all about the heart; He is all heart!

What does that say about His expectations of you?  Cain shouldn't have
bothered with the pretence, and neither should you.

It is all or nothing.

Rev_3:16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I
will spue thee out of my mouth.

Atheists are foolish, ignorant, willfully acting wrong, plain stubborn,
and uncaring for the truth.  However, God prefers it this way over men
coming to Him with a motive other than FOR HIM (e.g., Cain); such men
mock Him, make Him out to be a fool, even more than atheists.

That doesn't let you off the hook, though, Mr. and Mrs. Atheism.

Jeremiah 10:23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it

"To seek your own will is to seek your own glory."

"If God is not first in everything He is not first in anything."

"What makes the bible the truth? The resonance of God."

"All men were born sinners. Why? Because all men were born not loving
God with all their heart, soul and mind. An abomination. Therefore,
sin is not what you do, it is what you are."

"Compromise will condemn you."

"There are no sinners in Christ Jesus."

"My sons are born of Me. In them is no darkness at all."

"You can't learn righteousness. Haven't you had enough time already to
know that?"

"The way of truth is the testimony of life."

"I merely speak the truth, what is revealed to me, and the cards fall

"Nothing that is produced is produced without first being faith."

"You can only find proof of God through faith because that is how we all

"It is not what you do that matters, it is how you treat Me."

"Keep going forward. Forget about the past. Lift up your head, look
ahead."

"You cannot be free with guilt in your heart."

"Priority is everything."

"The truth doesn't need evidence, it is evidence."

"There is no greater possession a man has than his own will, to squander
it or to place it where it truly belongs."

"An atheist is a fool who thinks truth is found in living a lie."

"Saying "prove it" [as a foundation] is merely an ignorant straw man, to
an ignorant straw man."

"Wait, rest, be still, and know."

"No man can wash his own hands!!!"

"I find this in the Christianity religions: 'Nobody's perfect' they say,
and they use that as an excuse not to do what is perfect."

The Atheist: "They don't believe and put their faith in a Creator (the
obvious). So no evidence and proof is to be found!!"

"The world is the way it is because God can't compromise who He is."

"Man is not the centre of being."

"Man is incompatible with the natural world because of his sinful nature."

"And then the Lord said, "I see everything."

"Man has no greater idol than his own will."

"Where is God hiding? He isn't."

"If you don't keep all the scriptures, you can't keep any of them."

"You can't prove anything because everything depends on a person's
willingness to believe."

"Atheists are ultimately trying to be pointlessness, meaninglessness,
and purposelessness in their point, meaning, and purpose."

"The last day of creation will be the last day of time. God is always
full of hope."

"The veil of the temple was rent in twain, not to have a book pass
through it so that you could play God."

"A phylactery does not a heart for God make. Not back then, and not today."

I have to say, I agree with God in verses 3-5. Who the fuck wants
vegetables as a main course. Cain wasn't using his head.

But he must've had a couple of loose screws anyway. For example, in
verse 14, the paranoid bastard worries that "everyone" is gonna try
to kill him, while the only other people in the world at that time
were his parents.

vegetables as a main course. Cain wasn't using his head.
That is something the Lord never mentioned to me.

Why did Cain choose the vegie life? Is it a look into the type of
person he was?

Abel chose to be a shepherd, to care for sheep, an animal that lives and
breathes, and has attractions and distractions, that requires a lot more
care to tend; much more investment of the heart.

For example, like people for their dogs.

Whereas Cain, if a tomato plant dies, who gives a crap, really. No deep
investment required. Though, looking after a garden has its charms, it
is not like you can stroke a tomato leave and have one run after you.

There it is again, that Jaws music in my head!

Gen 4:16  And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in
the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.  Maybe there were already people
there? It is hard to know where 'time' fits in many places in the
Bible. If everything was put in it, it would be as big as Australia.

He did get a wife. Marriage and merging goes on. Also, Cain's fear
would have been for the future too because it was known what he had
done, and people have active tongues and long memories, especially back
then when there wasn't a lot of confusion in the world like there is now.

And I notice in Cain's bloodline murder occurred again. What you put in
the ground, sow, you reap. And I noticed in verse 25, "Whom Cain slew."
As was said, long memories.

Anyway, whatever, that was a little deeper look into who Cain was/is. I
don't care who truth comes through, and if it comes with the Lord using
you, all well and good. At least I don't have to put up with the
self-righteous, religious, holy moral shit-house pretenses. :-).

That is something the Lord never mentioned to me.
Why did Cain choose the vegie life? Is it a look into the type of
person he was?
Abel chose to be a shepherd, to care for sheep, an animal that
lives and

breathes, and has attractions and distractions, that requires a lot more
care to tend; much more investment of the heart.
For example, like people for their dogs.
Whereas Cain, if a tomato plant dies, who gives a crap, really. No deep
investment required. Though, looking after a garden has its
charms, it
Post by Michael McLean
is not like you can stroke a tomato leave and have one run after you.
There it is again, that Jaws music in my head!
Post by Ted
But he must've had a couple of loose screws anyway. For example, in
verse 14, the paranoid bastard worries that "everyone" is gonna try to
kill him, while the only other people in the world at that time were his
parents.
Gen 4:16  And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in
the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.  Maybe there were already people
there? It is hard to know where 'time' fits in many places in the
Bible. If everything was put in it, it would be as big as
Australia.
Post by Michael McLean
He did get a wife. Marriage and merging goes on. Also, Cain's fear
would have been for the future too because it was known what he had
done, and people have active tongues and long memories, especially back
then when there wasn't a lot of confusion in the world like there is now.
And I notice in Cain's bloodline murder occurred again. What you put in
the ground, sow, you reap. And I noticed in verse 25, "Whom Cain slew."
As was said, long memories.
Anyway, whatever, that was a little deeper look into who Cain
was/is. I
Post by Michael McLean
don't care who truth comes through, and if it comes with the Lord using
you, all well and good. At least I don't have to put up with the
self-righteous, religious, holy moral shit-house pretenses. :-).
Michael
I'd read that there were several Cain legends at the time, that the
author felt no need, for example, to explain where Cain got his wife
because it was already well known. No doubt same for the people he
was worried would wanna kill him.

Cain of the Bible married a sister.
Heh. Your silly inerrancy doctrine forces you to think so. But
actually, it's even worse than that.

I'd mentioned earlier that the author of Genesis 4 used various other
legends as his (or her*) sources and this is another example.
According to some ancient myths, Cain, not Adam**, was the first man.
And Yahweh was his father. That's what Eve meant when she said "I
have gotten a man from Yahweh" in verse 4:1 (why else would she have
said it).

And it was his mother Eve (originally Astarte) whom Cain mated with.
The same myth is was why ancient near eastern kings sometimes married
the queen mother. Google hieros gamos. Among other things, this has
the virtue of keeping the royal bloodline uncontaminated, although in
practice the king usually just knocked up a concubine and claimed the
kid was his mother's.

*This is one of the few Bible sections that was possibly written by a
woman.

**Adam was the first man in the Edomite myth, which the author used
instead of the Enosh of competing myths. (Recall from Jacob and Esau
that the Edomites were cousins of the Israelites.)

Michael
I have to say, I agree with God in verses 3-5.
I'll pass on the good news!  LOL.
Who the fuck wants > vegetables as a main course. Cain wasn't using
his head.
That is something the Lord never mentioned to me.
Why did Cain choose the vegie life?  Is it a look into the type of
person he was?
Abel chose to be a shepherd, to care for sheep, an animal that
lives and
breathes, and has attractions and distractions, that requires a lot
more
care to tend; much more investment of the heart.
For example, like people for their dogs.
Whereas Cain, if a tomato plant dies, who gives a crap, really.  No
deep
investment required.  Though, looking after a garden has its
charms, it
is not like you can stroke a tomato leave and have one run after
you.
There it is again, that Jaws music in my head!
But he must've had a couple of loose screws anyway. For example,
in
verse 14, the paranoid bastard worries that "everyone" is gonna
try to
kill him, while the only other people in the world at that time
were his
parents.
Gen 4:16  And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and
dwelt in
the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.  Maybe there were already
people
there?  It is hard to know where 'time' fits in many places in the
Bible.  If everything was put in it, it would be as big as
Australia.
He did get a wife.  Marriage and merging goes on.  Also, Cain's
fear
would have been for the future too because it was known what he had
done, and people have active tongues and long memories, especially
back
then when there wasn't a lot of confusion in the world like there
is now.
And I notice in Cain's bloodline murder occurred again.  What you
put in
the ground, sow, you reap.  And I noticed in verse 25, "Whom Cain
slew."
  As was said, long memories.
Anyway, whatever, that was a little deeper look into who Cain
was/is.  I
don't care who truth comes through, and if it comes with the Lord
using
you, all well and good.  At least I don't have to put up with the
self-righteous, religious, holy moral shit-house pretenses.  :-).
Michael
I'd read that there were several Cain legends at the time, that the
author felt no need, for example, to explain where Cain got his wife
because it was already well known. No doubt same for the people he was
worried would wanna kill him.
This reply is much longer than I intended, but if you can be bothered.

To see what is happening in the Bible, you need the Spirit of God to
illuminate it.

He doesn't need that much encouragement.

I used to say this to someone: "If a car goes through the window of a
shop, it is not the fact of how it is sitting in the shop; it is not the
fact that it is half-way in or half-way out; it is not the fact that it
is a Toyota or a non-Toyota; it is not the fact that its tyres are
Michelin; it is not the fact that it is blue or blueish; a thousand
other details." It is primarily about what and why it is doing there in
the first place.

You have to see the forest (God), or you are lost in the trees.

2Ti_3:7  Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the
truth.

Such people of that ilk are not benign, but are always opposed to the
truth [God] because they want it to be about their own knowledge and not
the truth from above.

Exo 7:10  And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as
the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and
before his servants, and it became a serpent.
Exo 7:11  Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now
the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their
enchantments.

Now, look into the what and why: Pharaoh is saying, "I oppose you, God,
and I oppose you with my knowledge." Whether Pharaoh did these
"enchantments" genuinely or not, it doesn't really matter (e.g., the
car's true colour in the analogy).  It might have some significance
(trees) as far as information (theology) goes, but as far as what is
really going on and why?  No.

By the way, this is where someone like Bart Erhman and typical
"Christers" as you call them are in big trouble.  They are completely
lost in the trees, ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of
the truth; they never see the forest, the what, and the why of God.

It is true that trees do make up a forest, but what good is seeing trees
if you can't see the forest?  Like those drones carrying grenades that
the Ukrainians are dropping on the Russian troops, they can see the
forest while the Russian troops on the ground are just lost in the
trees.  Boom, baby!

Cain was the first man born with a sin nature. He was a tiller, a farmer. His
veggies were his pride and joy,

Abel was a shepherd, over sheep. They were necessary for sin offerings,

God had instructed all men how to sacrifice, and for what reasons. They were
to offer a blood sacrifice for sins and or for a gift offering to God.

The sin nature of men comes from the god of this world, the evil one. He is
the perfect example of a sinful person, one who was influenced by satan and
not other external philosophies, wild women, drugs, all the other things we
can "blame" for out actions in todays time. His actions were willful, and in
spite of God showing him the proper way to receive forgiveness and blessings,
he wanted to do it HIS way. His did by his actions the same thing that
religion do today, they follow God by their rules, their rites, their rotes.
IOW;s their ways, just like some people here do when they stipulate how you
should live and be regardless of what the Lord teaches in His Scriptures.

So Cain wanted to do it His way by bringing his best and sacrificing those
things to God, and thus doing it His way and not a way that was pleasing to
God.

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the
ways of death.” (Pro 14:12)

Cain, when he realized his mistake felt bad and then jealous of his younger
brother, which God warned him about, but again satan took advantage of him
and so it festered in his soul until during a discussion with Abel about it,
he blew up in a rage and compounded his sin.

Thus this shows us that we are responsible to God to be pleasing to him as He
desires, and not because we decide what pleases him when it is all spelled
out in black and white via the scriptures.

That many times our actions have been prompted by our sin nature, whose ears
are trained to the tunes of the evil one and do his bidding. I am not
speaking of those that are possessed of the devil. Natural men do not pay
attention to God, but to their own desires and as Cain shows us, it has been
that way since the fall of men.

A disclaimer: with all of these chapters, it is impossible to mine
their

depths. They are God in description; there are not enough books in
the

world for that. So, I just pass on the moment.
"I merely speak the truth, what is revealed to me, and the cards
fall

where God intends."
And so...
Gen 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare
Cain,
Post by Michael McLean
and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
She pointed out that the child is a gift from our good-hearted
Creator.
Post by Michael McLean
Eve understood that the child did not come from them.
And what about from an impersonal "environmental nature" or from an
impersonal "evolution"? You can't get a personal being from an
impersonal "thing!" Atheists conveniently ignore that fact and
choose to
Post by Michael McLean
be blind. "What you sow is what you reap."
So Adam and Eve were gifted with a couple of sons, both with
different
Post by Michael McLean
propensities as we are about to see; reminds me of Jacob and Esau.
Both,
Post by Michael McLean
however, acknowledged God, which is significant in terms of a man's
free
Post by Michael McLean
will and personal decision of priority.
Abel's offering to God was accepted; Cain's was disrespectful.
Notice God's advice to Cain.
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if
thou
Post by Michael McLean
doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his
desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
We have a "well-doing prioritized" God; a reflection of His
nature.
Post by Michael McLean
Also, we have a choice of masters, don't we.
However, Cain has chosen the delusion that he is of greater value
than
Post by Michael McLean
His Creator...even in the presence of a GOD [God], no less!!! The
clay

in saying I am greater than the potter. It is easy for the

man

(clay) to rise up and become inflated with self because the clay is
the

focus of the potter (God). Hence, a sinful man easily persuades
himself
Post by Michael McLean
that he is the most important.
What he is missing out on, though, is the incredible, infinite love
of
Post by Michael McLean
God, and he is replacing it with the love of self.
Anyway, Cain has not shown true respect for God and His
worthiness.

It is all going down hill now; Cain slew Abel. It doesn't appear
exactly why, but I suppose it can be assumed that it was envy.
However,
Post by Michael McLean
it does say, curiously, that "Cain talked with Abel his
brother."
Post by Dr. Who
Post by Ted
I
Post by Michael McLean
wonder what that conversation would have been.
Moving on.
God knows, of course, of both the conversation and the death of
Abel.
Post by Michael McLean
But God still asks Cain, "Where's your brother?" giving him the
opportunity to speak the truth.
Truth is all essential to God because our God is a God of truth and
light, and that ain't no lie.
Now, look at the stinking attitude of Cain. In the blink of an
eye, he
Post by Michael McLean
went from making an offering to God to spitting in His face!
God says, "Where's your bro?"
Cain says, "I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?"
Insult upon injury. Just look at the disrespect!
Cain has now laid down the deeds of a liar and a malicious
contextual

twister, a maker of lies using truth – mendacious and nefarious.
Who "keeps" us all?
Extremely wicked, what Cain did!
It is like two boys playing in the back yard, and one puts an axe
through the other's head, and then runs inside. The father asks,
where's your brother, and the child says, I don't know, you're the
one
Post by Michael McLean
who provides a hedge of protection around him; he is your
responsibility.
Post by Michael McLean
Extremely wicked.
I am not going on any further with Genesis 4 at this point (it is
just
Post by Michael McLean
too much information); the rest is for the person I am going
through the
Post by Michael McLean
Bible for and with.
However, I will say this: Above, you have the epitome of how sinful
man
Post by Michael McLean
treats God (the contempt) and how he goes about to and fro on the
earth
Post by Michael McLean
to this very day.
Also, notice this: Cain did make an offering, but it was not from
the
Post by Michael McLean
heart. God is all about the heart; He is all heart!
What does that say about His expectations of you? Cain shouldn't
have
Post by Michael McLean
bothered with the pretence, and neither should you.
It is all or nothing.
Rev_3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor
hot, I
Post by Michael McLean
will spue thee out of my mouth.
Atheists are foolish, ignorant, willfully acting wrong, plain
stubborn,
Post by Michael McLean
and uncaring for the truth. However, God prefers it this way over
men
Post by Michael McLean
coming to Him with a motive other than FOR HIM (e.g., Cain); such
men
Post by Michael McLean
mock Him, make Him out to be a fool, even more than atheists.
That doesn't let you off the hook, though, Mr. and Mrs. Atheism.
Michael
I have to say, I agree with God in verses 3-5. Who the fuck wants
vegetables as a main course. Cain wasn't using his head.
But he must've had a couple of loose screws anyway. For example, in
verse 14, the paranoid bastard worries that "everyone" is gonna try
to kill him, while the only other people in the world at that time
were his parents.
Cain was the first man born with a sin nature. He was a tiller, a farmer. His
veggies were his pride and joy,
Abel was a shepherd, over sheep. They were necessary for sin
offerings,

There's no way Cain and Abel could know what God was gonna say
millennia in the future.
