Ecc 1:2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all
is vanity. Or, as the Lord illuminates for me, absurdity of absurdity;
all is absurdity.
King Solomon wasn't just talking about the vanity of pursuing material
things; he was also talking about spiritual matters, primarily so.
We live in a broken system, a system we can never fix. It is an absurd
system. It is a system of vanity.
Essentially, it is suffering, all of it, because it really is the
striving of vanity/absurdity.
All fallen man does is speak about the absurdity of things. It does not
matter what you say, or what 'truth' you say 'about' the system of
vanity; it is all absurdity. It is like endlessly speaking about an
ocean, an ocean you are drowning in.
What is the sole fundamental problem?
Self-worship.
It all boils down to self-worship, and there you have the 'vanity of
vanities' of King Solomon, absurdity of absurdity – all is absurdity,
and it is for one reason and one reason only - self-worship.
