Discussion:
My respect for the Bible vs the christers' utter lack of it

The Bible is an awesome volume of ancient literature, unparalleled,
and well worth serious study. If I were intelligent and had the time
(unfortunately neither being the case), I'd even wanna learn the
ancient languages.

Christers, otoh, although they claim it's the words of their god,
assign a much higher priority to their churches' teachings and openly
lie about the Bible so they can pretend it matches. A few examples
are Matthew 16:18, Luke 23:43, and Isaiah 7:14-16. In each of these,
as in countless other verses, christers don't give a flying fuck what
they claim their god is saying if it's contrary to their religion. So
they lie. (Contrary to Peter and the apostles in Acts 5:29.)

I can’t say I disagree with you… I have seen so-called Christians take
individual verses WWAAYY out of context to support their heretical
beliefs. The funniest was a redneck quoting part of a verse that said
that women should be quiet, completely forgetting that the rest of the
verse said that the man is the head of the family and should lead the
family the way Christ leads the church.

I am an Orthodox Christian myself, and when I see these people publish
their quotes I take a look at the entire section of the bible to get
the context. The bible is the inspired work of God, not the infallible
word; the bible states this in 2 Timothy 16. I can find significant
issues within the first two chapters of Genesis where the story of
creation is significantly changed so it can not be reconciled. There
is even some knucklehead in the usenet claiming that the apostilles
wrote the Douay–Rheims bible. This is funny because this bible was
first published in the seventeenth century and uses the Masoretic Old
Testament from the seventh century.

There is nothing in the first two chapters of Genesis that cannot be
rectified.

That is a common misconception.

Genesis 1 was written to replace the Adam and Eve myth, not to
supplement it. There are places where they contradict each other but
that's beside the point.

I didn't say there were any. Read my previous reply just above.
Genesis 1 was written to replace the Adam and Eve myth, not to
supplement it. There are places where they contradict each other but
that's beside the point.
Fine, but you show utter lack of respect for the book that you accuse others
of doing.

Revelation 21:8
Yes, I read them, and for those reasons I stated that you will have no excuse
on that last day. Why, because you had the truth in front of you all along,
and he knows that.

As for me, I am not part of that picture in any respect. I have already been
forgiven and my sins removed from me as far as the east is from the west. I
will also be leaving this earth the day Jesus comes to the earth, in the
clouds for his own people. So I will not be facing that judgment day.

If you knew the truth you would have known that.

I can?t say I disagree with you? I have seen so-called Christians take
individual verses WWAAYY out of context to support their heretical
There
is even some knucklehead in the usenet claiming that the apostilles
wrote the Douay?Rheims bible. This is funny because this bible was
first published in the seventeenth century and uses the Masoretic Old
Testament from the seventh century.
So just like what atheist do when trying to use Scripture.

Above are a couple you'll appreciate.

In Matthew 16:18, what Jesus means is obvious.

"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I
will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against
it."

But the Protestants lie about it to make it match their religion.

Another is Luke 23:43. 43 "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto
thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise."

The JWs lie about that one.

In both cases, their false interpretations are utterly ludicrous, but
the liars still claim they believe the Bible to be God's words.

OK.
I also get tired of pretend prophets telling me what to believe
because God has explained it to them alone.

Luk 12:5-7 (KJV)

5But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath
killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

6Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is
forgotten before God?

7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore:
ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Just because you have a fantasy dream that God speaks personally to

I was speaking to bobbo, dr who.
He has claimed in the past to have personal discussions with his god,
and he tries to tell everyone else what to believe and what to think.
He is s prophet wannabe.
