There are either laws that govern the entire universe...

...or there are not.

There is no corner of the universe that has no law!

Law and non-law cannot coexist.  That is, like saying you can be a fish
and be a bird.  You could say a bird in the air acts like a fish in
water, and vice versa, but they are not the same animal.

Clearly, there are laws that govern the universe.  Obviously, we don't
know them all.

Undoubtedly, as far as I am concerned, nothing is random. Egotists who
know nothing and who pretend to know everything like to introduce
"random" into the perfect design [law] of the universe - that is pure
ignorance and fantasy.

E=mc2+random, is it?  :-).

Law is a higher power than man; it is immutable.  Y'know, the funniest
thing here is that the atheist tries to use the immutable laws of nature
in order to try and prove they are not immutable, but includes some
version of randomness within.

Ironic, unscientific, illogical, sheer stupidity, and gross ignorance.

The word "chance" can also mean
"occurance". Even so, the Bible often
records matters from the perspective of
human understanding, rather than God's
perspective. From man's perspective,
things happen by "chance". From God's
perspective, He works all things after
the counsel of His will (Ephesians
1:11). chatGPT gives an edifying
explanation:

1. Ecclesiastes 9:11 – The Hebrew word
translated as "chance" in this verse is
פֶּגַע (pega'), which can mean an event
or occurrence. Ecclesiastes is known for
its exploration of life's enigmas and
the apparent randomness of life's
experiences under the sun. This does not
necessarily contradict God's
sovereignty; rather, it acknowledges
that from a human perspective, many
events seem to happen randomly. The
Preacher in Ecclesiastes is often
reflecting on the limitations of human
perspective and wisdom.

2. Ruth 2:3 – In this narrative, the
term "by chance" (Hebrew: מִקְרֶה,
miqreh) is used to describe Ruth's
arrival at Boaz's field. This word can
be translated as "happening" or
"occurrence." The story of Ruth, when
viewed in its entirety, reveals a divine
orchestration of events, where what
appears as "chance" from a human
viewpoint is part of God's providential
plan.

3. 2 Samuel 1:6 – Here, the use of "by
chance" (again, מִקְרֶה, miqreh) in the
Amalekite's story may reflect his
perception of the events. The broader
narrative of Scripture shows that God
was working through the circumstances of
Saul's reign and downfall for His
purposes, even if individuals perceive
events as random or chance occurrences.

In contrast, Ephesians 1:11 emphasizes
God’s sovereignty and predestination,
affirming that He works all things
according to the counsel of His will.
This passage is written from a divine
perspective, assuring believers of God's
absolute control and purposeful
direction in all things.

Harmonizing These Perspectives:

- Human Perspective vs. Divine
Sovereignty: Passages that speak of
"chance" reflect the human perspective –
our limited view and understanding of
events as they unfold. On the other
hand, passages like Ephesians 1:11
reveal the divine perspective, where
everything is under God's sovereign
control and is part of His purposeful plan.

- Complementary, Not Contradictory: The
Bible often presents both the immediate,
human perspective and the ultimate,
divine perspective. These are not
contradictory but complementary. While
humans may perceive events as random or
chance occurrences, the Bible teaches
that God, in His sovereignty, is working
through all events, guiding them toward
His purposes.

- The Mystery of Providence: The
coexistence of human responsibility and
divine sovereignty is one of the
mysteries of the Christian faith. The
Bible affirms both realities,
encouraging believers to trust in God's
sovereign plan, even in situations that
seem to be governed by "chance" or
randomness from our limited viewpoint.

In conclusion, the concept of "chance"
in the Bible, when viewed in the context
of the whole Scripture, does not
contradict the teaching of God's
sovereignty. Instead, it reflects the
limitations of human perspective and
understanding, while affirming the
broader truth of God's providential
control over all things.

You make some good points here that can be used as we study the Bible.
But I still see random chance at work at Ec 9:11. For example, "The
race is not to the swift,". Why would God get involved with who would
win a race, ?

Or, why would God care if some highly intelligent people didn't get
rich, etc.?

No, randomness can and does happen, regardless how you interpret Ec

Yep, Sinner James.

Nothing is by chance, as "chance" is nothing.

Whateth power doth "chance" haveth?

Rom_11:36  For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to
whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Is there a glory higher than Him, Sinner James?

"Chance" is merely a figure of speech of men; it is not literal.

Was it by chance that Joseph was thrown into a pit and a wandering group
of Midianite merchantmen just happened to be passing?

Rom_11:36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to
whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Stop trying to be righteous; you can't be; you're a sinner, James.

Go study your Bible...

They had much more understanding back then than the average Christian
today. I can see that simply through the depth with which Paul is
speaking to them. So much for modern man and his Bible "information."

Now read your Bible...

Rom 6:16  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to
obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or
of obedience unto righteousness?

Rom 6:17  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye
have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Rom 6:18  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of
righteousness.

Rom 6:22  But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God,
ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

"Became and become" in Christ Jesus. A sinner has "became and become"
nothing and has remained what he is.

There is much that you don't know and that I don't know, but what I
know, I know by the grace of God. What is freely given to me, I give
freely, but I am done with casting beautiful pearls before swine who
make no effort to even want to get out of their sinner sty.

So...

Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but
under grace? God forbid.

Think about this: if there is no law, then there is nothing to measure
sin by (E.g., the 10 commandments-they were fulfilled), so when Paul
says "shall we sin," what is he referring to?

And therein is the answer to "Why is sin a lie?"

No effort, no reward.

Who knows more, imperfect men or a perfect God who

Php_2:12  Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my

salvation with fear and trembling.

Obey, and the promise of God is to free you of your sin. What sin?
